Purnell's History of the Second World War a highly successful weekly anthology, or 'partwork' publication, explored all facets of the Second World War and was distributed across the English-speaking world. Launched in 1966, shortly before a similarly impressive 8-volume series on the First World War, saw multiple reprints throughout the 1970s. The magazine stood out for featuring contributions from numerous writers, often prominent military figures from nationalities, providing a comprehensive perspective on the topic. Additionally, included high-quality original artwork depicting military equipment, maps, and many previously unseen photographs, some of which were graphic.
