The World's Strike Aircraft (1973) By H. F. King

The concept of ground attack aircraft came into its own in WWI when pilots dropped bombs by hand on enemy trenches. Torpedo bombers were also born at this time and went on to score notable successes during WWII. Ground attack types such as the German Stuka and British Typhoon were decisive in many WWII battles and later, in Korea and Vietnam, Thunderjets, Sabres and Phantoms brought obliteration from the sky to enemy ground forces.
